A Dad's Life

Not having a full time job can be frustrating but also a blessing.

Today I worked on each of my cover letters for the individual dental offices I will be going to tomorrow and than I got the joy of picking up my daughter from school. Kaeden went to his friends house to play Wii so I thought I would have a father-daughter afternoon. But when I arrived at school Livi asked if she could bring her long time friend over. I was not hurt or jealous with Livi wanting a friend over because I knew that I would still be able to interact and be part of the girls afternoon.

Once we arrived home Livi was excited for the chance to have a tea party and picnic in the middle of our living room. The girls engaged in rounding up our cat Notch and proceeding to treat him like their very own baby. He was wrapped in a blanket and placed nicely into the stroller. Livi laid out the blanket and tea set and I boiled the water and prepared the tea. Today we served up Rasberry Tea sweetened with all natural honey. I couldn't let them just have tea alone so I whipped up some Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies (http://allrecipes.com//Recipe/chewy-chocolate-chip-oatmeal-cookies/Detail.aspx) to snack on.

After observing the girls torture the cat and enjoy their tea, they ended up moving the party to the garage and I got down to Man's Work! I finished baking the cookies, washed the dishes, and started to prepare supper for my beautiful wife who got to talk to adults all day and play with dental instruments in people's mouths!

Stew is the New Black

Well, last night was the fearful "Hamm Stew," but the lady of the house won the night over from the Twin Sisters who came in with a look of disgust. The man of the house sneered at the pot as it came forth, but after one bite was kissing his wonderful wife with praise and delight. He promised to have her kitchen window sills complete by Christmas 2010 because her stew was delicious.
After the first nibble the sisters were singing the joys of the new stew and the words, "I was wrong," even came out of the lips of one of them.
Served along side the stew, was cauliflower smoothered in mayo-mustard and cheese, homemade caeser salad, pickled beets, garlic bread, and pickle asparagus. This was all served on Evelyn's fine china and the night was captured by the photo team of grubby lis', Lee, and Lisa. The other members of the stew night, who knew the food would be outstanding as usual, was Professor B. Fuller, who stated, "that stew was like the night I was born... solid, glorious, and mind numbing!" He was overwhelmed at the great bold taste packed in ever bite and he also said, "he would sell his first born cat for a bowl of this everyday." Myself, I enjoyed the time with the family and great food that came along with it. I was surprised by a card and gift certificate to the KEG, by the Professor and Lisa. This and the meal was a graduation dinner for me finally finishinbg school and passing my Exam. I was very pleased and I THANK EVERYONE who made the night happen. The two younger members of the family enjoyed the stew because their parents forced it down there throats and told them to smile at every bite. That was not the case, but the caeser salad, garlic bread, and the cauliflower were conqured by the miniture creatures.
For dessert we all enjoyed an ice cream cake from the world famous Safety Mart in Chase, BC. If you are ever in Chase, stop by and ask for there world famous Ice Cream cake.
In other news the Professor and Erv have decided on the Professors new role at his job. He is going to dress up in a letter "M," body costume and go to tender closings and project opening to better get Mierau's name out in the public. The Professor will also be booking special appearances at birthday parties, and street corners of Kamloops.

Something Along These Lines!

Chewy Stewy is Ohhh Sooooo Good!

Hi... this is where you will find me from now on. In approx. 2 hours I will deactivating my Facebook account for a vacation from the social media. Will I miss spying on my friends and typing silly messages for all to see... sure will. But I hope that this will give me the creativity to play more on here and type about life and go more indepth in detail.

This Saturday is an exciting one. First my family has decided to make it a home day, except for the chance of skating, and the Professor is coming over for some famous "Hamm Stew." I could see where the problem is in my last sentence but the fact is that Hamm is spelt write because it represents someones last name and the stew will have NO ham parts, or Hamm parts in it... hopefully! This actually reminds me of a trip the Professor and I took to the dry and dusty lands of Greenland. We were on our way to discover the true meaning of ice and its effect on the polar bear population when we got stranded on the sidce of the road in our 1977 Chevy Malibu. I looked over at the hairy Professor and he summed up our problems in 2 words, "No Gas." At that exact moment I let fly the rotteness stink you have every smelt and I said, "Got Gas." We laughed for 2 minutes and came back to the fact that we were lost, without fuel, and we forgot to tell anybody where we were going.
The land was dry and dusty but the ice was thick. After a couple days of playing crib and talking about the good old days we realized we had a 4 gallon container of the famous "Hamm Stew." The reason we had sooo much stew was because the disrespectful Janzen twins, and their evil father did not care for the carefully brewed, rightly seasoned stew that their sweet, loving, wise Mother had made for them. All they cared about was the selfish taste of the buds, and the deep seeded mockery in their hearts that they used to step on their Mother's good name.
Professor B. Fuller and I didn't hold this against them, but we used it for our own good. The next day we used the dry dirty land as a great sheet of blank paper and we calculated how much gas our bodies could produce by eating the stew. We enjoyed the stew and played with the volleyball that was in the trunk. As our body produced gas, we would deposit the precious commodity into the tank of the car. At night the Professor and I would sing songs like, "Toxic," by Brittney and songs by Justin Timberlake and Simon and Garfunkel. Our harmony became perfect and the polar bears would sit along the riverside and stare at us. We knew we were a hit.
The time finally arrived for us to drive ourselves back to our families. Instead of discovering the truth of ice and polar bears we discovered that we could power cars with farts, and that polar bears love really good singing by two white guys.

So this Saturday when you are eating the famous "Hamm Stew," I hope you remember the old ladies out there putting their hearts in to their cooking and how you can help to solve the problem of to much human gas by bumming up to your car and filling the tank with your precious gift of gas.

Back to Waiting

Hello Blog, it has been too long since I last typed my life on your simple lay out. I dream that I would be pushed to excitement by logging on to your page, but find that the excitement doesn't appear and instead my mind fades to black instead of dreaming of another world. I will try harder to type on you since I am leaving the social network that everyone in the western world is addicted to.

Waiting is the toughest thing in the world. I must admit, it has become easier as I have grown up but I remember as a child waiting to go camping, fishing, or a birthday party, the days seems to drag by and, of course, the clocks all went backwards in time. Now I get busy with other activities, duties, and chores and the time drifts by quicker than the air bursting from my sphincter. I am always shocked, asking the question, where has the time gone.

I am currently back at the stage of being a child. I arrived home from my tour of duty in Toronto on August 14th and wrote my big exam on September 20th. Now I am waiting for the results to be posted on their website. I know I should be patient, and at times I am, but this one is driving me crazy. The problem is that generally they have the results posted by the 15th day since the writing of the exam. Well, today is day 16 and still no results. I feel like I am 10 years old waiting for Christmas to arrive, or lying in bed Christmas Eve night waiting for 6:00 am to arrive on my bedside clock. This is killing me!!!

This is the state I am in, and I would not be shock if there are many other aspiring dental hygienists in the same position of waiting that I am in right now.
